I first became involved in this area because I played and was always being asked legal questions by team mates! I wrote an article on liability for foul play in my early days at the Bar and have kept up an academic and practical interest in the complex legal issues which affect modern sport. I have represented athletes and sporting organisations throughout my career. I am currently counsel to Drug Free Sport New Zealand and have appeared as counsel before the courts, the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the New Zealand Sports Disputes Tribunal in matters such as selection appeals and anti-doping violations. I have written a number of articles and papers in the area and also wrote a chapter on the control of Doping and Drugs in Sport for a recent publication aimed at Sporting Organisations called Winning the Red Tape Game. I still enjoy playing and supporting and answering the questions.
